**Responsibilities**:

- Actively promote and maintain all safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy working environment at all company sites.
- Perform risk assessment reviews of laboratory procedures to establish guidelines, engineering controls, PPE, or other requirements to carry out the work safely.
- Write, review, and update all safety-related policies, SOPs, procedures and work practices and ensure awareness and adherence by lab staff.
- Determine safety training requirements and oversee delivery of training programs for chemical, biohazardous, TDG, WHMIS, fire safety and other safety issues.
- Monitor the procurement, storage, use and disposal of chemicals and biological materials including proper hazardous waste management.
- Carry out office and lab safety inspections and participate with JHSC to investigate and make recommendations regarding work-related injuries, illnesses, accidents or incidents.
- Keep up to date with provincial and federal regulations and ensure company-wide compliance.
- Take active steps to identify lab or safety deficiencies and ensure remediation.
- Maintain complete and concise records and documentation for all lab-related activities.
- Support lab teams by serving as a point of contact for lab operational needs.
- Ensure lab operates efficiently by overseeing the management of supplies and services such as waste management and autoclaving.
- Assist with procuring reagents, consumables by obtaining quotes and following up with vendors.
- Schedule routine equipment maintenance and coordinate repair services when needed.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with other teams, be resourceful and provide guidance on laboratory matters.

**Qualifications**:

- ** Education + Experience**:A Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 4 years of experience.
- **Knowledge**:Proven knowledge ofprovincial and federal safety guidelines and regulations, able to assess, improve and implement safe practices and the management of lab and safety training programs.
