The Healing Institute at Forbidden Plateau is a premier mental health and addiction treatment center located near Courtenay, British Columbia. Situated on 14 acres of private forested land overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountain range, our classic wood lodge offers a serene and intimate environment for up to 24 residents. Participants can choose between shared lodgings and private rooms with ensuite bathrooms, each providing ocean and mountain views, allowing them to start each day immersed in Vancouver Island's natural beauty.

Our mission is to assist individuals struggling with mental health and addiction in finding their path to a quality life. We specialize in small, individualized treatment programs addressing addiction, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) using the most up-to-date evidence-based practices. Our multidisciplinary team maintains a high staff-to-participant ratio and creates personalized treatment plans to ensure that every participant receives focused interventions designed to support sustainable recovery.

The Support Staff at The Healing Institute (THI) play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment for clients undergoing mental health and addiction recovery. Working 12-hour shifts, including awake overnights, Support Staff ensure the facility operates smoothly by performing housekeeping duties, supporting daily activities, and contributing to a positive and trauma-informed community atmosphere. This position is ideal for individuals who are proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to creating a welcoming space for all clients.

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Site Maintenance and Housekeeping:

- Perform daily housekeeping tasks, including cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing common areas, client rooms, offices, and restrooms.
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the facility, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
- Conduct regular checks of the premises to address maintenance needs and report any issues to the Support Team Lead.
- Support the setup and cleanup of program activities, group sessions, and community events.

Client Support and Engagement:

- Provide a warm and supportive presence, promoting a trauma-informed approach in all interactions with clients.
- Assist clients with daily routines, offering guidance, encouragement, and feedback as needed.
- Monitor the facility during awake overnight shifts, ensuring safety and responding to client needs appropriately.
- Support the implementation of daily schedules, ensuring clients are present and engaged in scheduled activities and programs.

Safety and Compliance:

- Perform regular safety checks, including monitoring emergency exits and maintaining security protocols.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, following THI’s policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment.
- Document incidents, observations, and relevant information accurately and in a timely manner.

Operational Tasks:

- Collaborate with clinical and support teams to facilitate smooth operations and client care.
- Assist with laundry and organizing supplies to contribute to a well-maintained facility.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION**:

- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience in a mental health, addiction recovery, or residential care setting is preferred.
- Strong housekeeping and site maintenance skills.
- First Aid and CPR certification and Recovery coaching and Non-Violence Crisis Intervention training (or willingness to obtain).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain a trauma-informed and non-judgmental approach when interacting with clients.
