**ROLE**: PLANT LEADER
**JOB SUMMARY**:
The plant manager/leader is someone with exceptional frontline leadership, assures employee engagement, safety, quality, continuous improvement, cost, and production objectives are met or exceeded with a strong leadership and coaching skills and strong ability to build relationships and fully engage all employees in business improvement.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Day-to-Day Management & Oversight_
- Implements principles of general management, manufacturing production systems, plant management, equipment maintenance, production control, labour relations, strategic manufacturing policy, systems analysis, materials planning, productivity analysis, and cost control using rational analysis.
- Oversees different production departments and teams to ensure production targets and deadlines are met.
- Develops and executes processes and guidelines to improve efficiency and quality of production.
- Ensures production, distribution, and quality control meet or exceed established goals/KPIs.
- Trains, implements, sustains lean manufacturing principles, including managing standard work and implementation of 5S.
- Ensures all applicable Health & Safety standards are met, co-leads the Joint Health & Safety Committee as a Management committee member.
- Establishes and maintains production within specific guidelines for production efficiency, labour cost, and controlling waste.
- Organizes the daily operations of the plant - implements best practices, policies and procedures where required.
- Monitors production schedules and works closely with planning departments to ensure coordination of purchasing, production, sales, and shipping.
- Monitors the preventive maintenance plans and ensures annual/regular tests are completed on facility and equipment.
- Supports HR in follow up with employees who are ill, injured, etc. and ensures documentation is provided accordingly.
- Is held accountable to control production expenses on the income statement.
- Strategic Planning & Execution_
- Provides leadership, planning, direction, coordination, and implementation strategies, and processes to develop a high-performance company culture that maximizes productivity, ensures quality, and fosters continuous improvement.
- Leads the development of the capital budget and maintenance budget.
- Supports the development of quarterly objectives for all production teams.
- Leads the execution/coordination of strategic plant-wide initiatives.
- Performs other duties, execute projects as assigned.
- Relationship Builder/Communicator & Culture Advocate_
- Facilitates communication among employees, committees, and other departments including marketing, logistics, and customer service.
- Schedules and conducts daily, weekly, and monthly huddles/meetings/briefings.
- Relationship builder with all plant employees.
- Supports conflict resolution management and enhances teamwork dynamics.
- Enhances culture through leading by example on all core values. Supports employees in improving their core values mindsets scores.
- Establishes and maintains a positive work environment and motivates employees to reach company production objectives and goals.
- Supports the Unique Ability discovery process - right people, right seat.
- Ensures proper communication is delivered to all employees (change notices, announcements, etc.)
- People Leader_
- Provides leadership to the Production, Planning, and Maintenance teams, including conducting quarterly discussions with Production Team Leads (performance management, and career development). Refer to LMA responsibilities.
- Ensures all employees have a quarterly discussion with their team leads.
- Provides experience, stability, and direction to team members on the plant floor.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- At least +5 years of experience in a management or leadership role and the successful development of manufacturing and operations personnel.
- At least 5 years of technical experience in manufacturing or similar industry.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
- Highly proficient in quality control and quality assurance theory and practice.
- Lean and/or Six Sigma experience and/or certification is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
- Passion for team building and strong conflict resolution skill and problem-solving capability.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong working knowledge of supply chain as well as inventory management principles.
- Project management and planning experience is an asset.
- Certification in health and safety is an asset.
**WORK HOURS**:
- Full-time, permanent
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 4:30 pm (to follow plant hours). Additional hours (including managing production overtime) will be required from time to time.
- Note: this role is expected to be 70% on the plant floor and 30% office work.
