Educational Assistant

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist students with integration into the classroom and school setting.
- Provide individual or small group support to students with assignments, reinforcing learning concepts under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
- Support students with special needs using techniques such as sign language, braille, and remedial programs.
- Monitor and report student progress to the classroom teacher.
- Accompany and supervise students during activities in school gymnasiums, laboratories, libraries, resource centres, and on field trips.
- Assist teachers in operating projectors, tape recorders, and other audio-visual or electronic equipment.
- Perform duties in the school library or office as assigned by the school principal.
- Monitor students during recess, lunch hours, or throughout the school day.

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Completion of a 10-month college program in teaching assistance, educational assistance, or a related social science field is usually required.
- Specialized training and experience are required for assisting students with special needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
