Waste Control Service (WCS) is a private, locally owned, and operated recycling and waste management company offering solutions for sustainable management of all things waste. We offer collection services and consultation for both residential communities as well as commercial, industrial, and institutional organizations exclusively in the Greater Vancouver region. We have a head office and shop in Coquitlam B.C. and two recycling yards in North Vancouver where we primary process some of the recycling we regularly collect from our customers, which also operates as a recycling and secure shredding facility open to the community.
Who we are looking for:
Our team is growing, and we are seeking an individual passionate about the environment to work out of our Coquitlam facility. The primary responsibility of the Operations Supervisor is to ensure daily operational effectiveness, by planning and scheduling driver routes and adjusting for changes to meet service level agreements. This is a hands-on position and requires someone with the ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment and have excellent decision-making skills. **Responsibilities**:
- Plan routing, schedules, and sequencing of routes (i.e.: sick, injuries, mechanical issues).
- Ensure staff are following safety protocols and initiatives.
- Ensure requirements for Pre & Post trip inspection are being met with accordance to the Commercial Vehicle Regulations.
- Manage costs by optimizing labour hours and carryovers.
- Perform site checks as needed to resolve safety and customer issues, implement corrective actions to prevent further occurrences.
- Supervise, manage, train, and motivate staff.
- Ensures overall customer service levels are met and customer expectations are surpassed.
- Maximized route efficiency by reducing driver time.
- Maximizes cost savings by researching and ensuring that material is diverted to preferred material disposal facilities.
- Perform scheduled route reviews and audits.
- Assist with dispatch when required; vacation/sick coverage.
- Other duties as assigned
To be Successful:
- 5 years industry experience or related industry experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and employee management skills.
- Excellent analytical skills to optimize routes and productivity.
- Working knowledge of Trux and Samsara.
- Understanding the basics of trucks and maintenance.
- Previous experience in waste management and asset.
