**Position Summary**:
We are actively looking for casual Housekeepers and Janitors to join our progressive team. Successful applicants must have previous experience. This is a casual position that would cover staff vacation, sick relief and additional work load.

**Responsibilities**
- Strips, washes and cleans beds and other furniture, remakes beds, re-equips beds and resident area.
- Cleans, washes and/or scours sinks, toilets, tiles, floors, spot washing of walls, refills soap and paper dispensers.
- Dusts and polishes furniture, dusts windowsills and other dust-collecting surfaces.
- Changes drapes and cubicle curtains, completely cleans room after isolation patient discharge.
- Cleans and tidies items such as cupboards, lockers, basins and tables.
- Use vacuum - wet or dry, uses carpet shampooer and carpet sweeper, uses damp or dry mop and bucket.
- Cleans inside of windows, window screens, and cleans light fixtures.
- Removes and disposes of soiled linen and garbage recycling and may be required to distribute clean linen, e.g. laundry bags, window curtains.
- Reports all deficiencies in equipment and all hazardous situations to the Building Services Manager.
- Provides supply order requests and stock supplies needed to carry out duties.
- Maintains all housekeeping equipment in a safe and clean condition at all times.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Required Education, Skills and Qualifications**

**Education and Experience**

Grade 10, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.

**Competencies**
- Ability to organize and utilize resources, to assess and assign priorities, and to meet changing priorities with flexibility.
- Effective communication/presentation/verbal/written skills to interact with internal and external contacts.
- Sensitivity and a passion for meeting the needs of older adults and an ability to interact with residents, families and members of the community.
- Aptitude to use computer software related to building services.

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $21.91 per hour
