We are seeking a dedicated and passionate tutor to join our team at Multimodal Learning, a tutoring business that specializes in helping students with dyslexia. Our approach is based on structured literacy, and we provide comprehensive training and lesson planning to ensure student success.

**Position Details**:

- **Hours**: After-school hours (starting at 3 PM or later) and possibly Saturdays.
- **Location**: In-person tutoring in Calgary and/or online.
- **Type of Work**: Contracted position.

**Responsibilities**:

- Foster a positive learning atmosphere that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Implement structured literacy programs designed for students with dyslexia (training provided).
- Adapt lesson plans to meet the individual needs of each student.
- Provide immediate and constructive feedback to students during lessons.
- Use multisensory teaching methods to enhance learning.
- Attend occasional professional development sessions to stay updated on the best practices in dyslexia education.

**Requirements**:

- Strong, clear communication skills to effectively convey concepts to students, especially those with dyslexia.
- Experience working with children in an educational setting, such as tutoring or classroom instruction, is preferred.
- Ability to educate students in a clear, engaging manner that promotes understanding and retention.
- Patience and adaptability in addressing diverse learning styles and needs.
- Organizational skills to manage lesson plans and student records efficiently.
- Access to an updated laptop (iPads or tablets are not sufficient for this role).
- Must have or be willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
- Background in teaching, psychology, or speech pathology is a bonus, but not required. We welcome applicants from various fields who are passionate about helping students succeed.
