Cable Technician

Full-Time, Contract, Freelance

EXPERIENCE:
Installation, pulling and maintenance of structured cabling and networking cabling CAT 5, CAT 6, namely roughing in cables performing termination and punch down work. Security device installation, including security cameras, DVRs and NVRs, Installation of audio/visual systems. Must be able to read and understand blueprints

Mount face plates on surface mount boxes correctly - (mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fibre optic and hardware) - Route cable through data centres, buildings and workstations - Test, adjust and troubleshoot equipment.
- Security Cameras and Access Control installation: 2 years (required)
- Cable Termination: 2 years (required)
- Cable Pulling: 2 years (required) Computer Hardware: 1 year (preferred)
- Audio Visual Installation: 1 year (required)
- CCTV: 1 year (required)
- Network cabling: 3 years (required)
- Fibre optic cable installation is a strong asset

Excellent people skills, communication skills and self-management skills, work independently and as a team, creative in completing a task, provide appropriate customer service when responding to a customer request or fulfilling project requirements - Will perform all other duties as required by departmental manager

Ability to safely lift heavy objects and tools - Must be able to carry and climb a twenty eight foot extension ladder weighing 80 pounds - Must be well organized and be able to work well individually and as part of a team work environment.

Work Location: In personResponsibilities:

- Install, maintain, and repair cable systems for residential and commercial customers
- Perform cable and internet installations, including running cables, terminating connections, and testing equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with cable service, including signal loss, connectivity problems, and equipment malfunctions
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols while working at heights or in confined spaces

Qualifications:

- Strong knowledge of computer networking principles and protocols
- Familiarity with electrical wiring and telecommunication systems
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to use hand tools effectively
- Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve cable-related issues
- Strong communication skills to interact with customers and explain technical concepts in a clear manner
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
