**ROLE SUMMARY**:
Under the direction of the Associate Minister, the Youth Ministry Leader helps to guide the Junior High (Grades 7-9) and Senior High (Grades 10 -12) Youth of Grace Presbyterian Church to have a greater understanding of growing in their faith and belief in God’s love and grace, in ways that feel safe and inclusive with opportunities to explore questions, theology, and identify spiritual gifts. This will happen through youth programming that includes teaching, fellowship, and service that nurtures a sense of belonging and community, and actively involves youth in the life of Grace Presbyterian Church.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBIILITIES**:
1. Develop meaning-filled relationships with the youth of Grace by investing in their lives, being open to their interests, listening, providing care, and encouraging participation in youth activities and life together at Grace.

2. Create and implement age-appropriate activities and events for Junior High and Senior High Youth that promote belonging, community, and growing in faith.

3. Communicate regularly and effectively with youth, parents, church staff, and the congregation so all are given the opportunity to understand Grace’s Youth Ministry and Events as well as help those who are interested in participating in this ministry to connect.

4. Meet with the Senior High Youth of Grace regularly and develop a rhythm for weekly Bible study and monthly fellowship events.

5. Meet with the Junior High Youth of Grace regularly and develop a rhythm for monthly events.

6. Develop an annual calendar for the Youth Ministry Activities and Events at Grace Presbyterian Church.

7. Meet with the Associate Minister weekly for a time of collaboration, support, discernment, and guidance for upcoming Youth Ministry events and activities.

8. Communicate concerns to the Associate Minister or Lead Minister.

9. Meet with Grace’s Spiritual Growth Committee monthly to share program updates and program needs.

10. Meet with Grace’s Youth Team monthly.

11. Attend Grace staff meetings as requested.

12. Help equip volunteer leaders to help share in leadership of events and activities as well as ensure all events and activities are compliant with the guidelines of the Presbyterian Church in Canada’s Leading with Care Policy.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- A strong background and knowledge of working with Junior High and Senior High Youth.
- A working knowledge of good youth ministry practices including activity and event coordination, leading people of various ages and abilities, group facilitation, a desire and demonstrated understanding of working with diverse groups of people to build community.
- Ability to engage youth with questions and a valuing of a variety of perspectives.
- An ability to create spaces and conversations with healthy boundaries where diverse perspectives are encouraged and welcomed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organization and administrative skills.
- Flexible, compassionate, and creative.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Ability to be a self-starter.

**REMUNERATION**
- Approximately $30.00 per hour based on qualifications.

- Submit request for time off and vacation to the Associate Minister.
- Flexibility to adjust work schedule to suit church needs.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 15 per week

Flexible language requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- Weekends as needed

**Experience**:

- Experience with children: 1 year (required)
