**Job Overview**:
As a Swamper at a moving company, you will be an essential part of the moving crew, providing support to the movers by handling tasks that ensure the efficient, safe, and organized transportation of items. You will assist in loading and unloading items, securing cargo, and maintaining a safe work environment. The role requires physical stamina, excellent teamwork skills, and the ability to work efficiently under varying conditions.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist with Loading & Unloading: Help load and unload furniture, appliances, and personal belongings from trucks to ensure items are transported safely and efficiently.
- Organize and Secure Items: Ensure that all items are properly secured in the moving vehicle to prevent damage during transportation.
- Prepare the Moving Site: Assist in prepping both the starting and ending locations by ensuring pathways are clear and protective padding is used for floors and walls.
- Move Large and Heavy Items: Lift, carry, and transport heavy or bulky items, following safety protocols to avoid injury and damage.
- Maintain Equipment: Ensure all moving equipment, such as dollies, straps, and blankets, are in good working order and used effectively.
- Provide Customer Service: Interact with clients in a courteous and professional manner, assisting with any questions or concerns they may have during the moving process.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to prevent injury to yourself, other team members, and clients.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other movers to complete tasks efficiently and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Keep the Work Area Tidy: Maintain cleanliness and organization at the work site, both during and after the move.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift and carry heavy loads and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with others.
- Problem Solving: Ability to think quickly and adapt to changes or challenges during the move.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with teammates and clients.
- Attention to Detail: Careful attention to packing and securing items to avoid damage during transport.
- Time Management: Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable Transportation: A reliable mode of transportation to get to and from the job site, as well as the ability to travel to various locations.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Previous experience in a moving or manual labor position is a plus.
- Familiarity with moving equipment and tools.
- Ability to operate or assist with driving a moving truck (optional, based on company needs).
**Work Environment**:
- Physically demanding, requiring standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- Work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, or rain.
- May require long hours, early mornings, or weekends based on moving schedules.
**Compensation**:
$17-19 per hour based on experience, with potential for tips or bonuses depending on performance and client satisfaction.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 - 30 per week
