**Residential Support Worker - Casual including Holidays.**

Marillac Place offers to house to women sixteen years and older who are pregnant or have their child
(ren) in their care or attempt to regain care of their child (ren). Marillac Place can accommodate children
up to two years of age. A residence is permitted for up to 364 days.

Marillac Place supports new mothers and mothers-to-be facing homelessness in Waterloo Region by
providing a safe living environment, teaching parenting & life skills, and developing supportive
relationships. Our vision is every mother & child facing homelessness in Waterloo Region has the
opportunity to recover and rebuild to ensure a successful future.

The Residential Support Worker position provides supportive and preventative services to women and
children. Shifts include afternoons and overnights on weekends and holidays.

As a member of a multi-disciplinary staff team, you will offer ongoing support to meet the housing,
financial, and parenting support needs of the women in residence experiencing addiction and mental
health issues; complete intakes and intake related tasks; perform data entry, complete household tasks
and resolve conflicts between participants. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Marillac Place employees are expected to demonstrate respect, empathy, and accountability to the
people who access our services ensuring a consistent support by actively listening and being available for
difficult conversations, and to attend work regularly as regular attendance is critical to maintaining the
highest quality and level of service expected in delivering services.

Key Responsibilities include:
1. Supervise the residence as the sole staff person on shift.

2. Establish and maintain a helping relationship with program participants.

3. Administrative and housekeeping tasks.

4. Responsible to work in a safe and healthy manner.

**Requirements**:
1. Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in social work related discipline complemented by relevant
experience.

2. Experience working with adults with mental health and/or addiction issues.

3. Possess the ability to perform independently without supervision and handle crisis situations
effectively.

4. Proficient in use of Word, Excel, electronic record keeping and data collection.

5. Able to successfully complete and provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

6. Current certificate in first aid and CPR.

7. Two Doses (full vaccination) of the COVID-19 Vaccine or will be required to submit written proof
verifying medical exemption and agree to rapid antigen testing.

8. Willing to work flexible hours to meet the agency needs including holidays.

9. Demonstrated ability to work within the organization’s mission and values with the understanding and
sensitivity to the needs of individuals.

10. All staff are expected to wear appropriate PPE and follow our COVID policies.

Salary Range: $18.35/hr.
- Relief Position.
