Pickering, Canada Eco-Tec Inc Full time

**Eco-tec**, a **Kovalus Separation Solutions** company is currently looking for a Lab Technician - 12 months contract in Pickering, Ontario

Reporting to the Technology Development Manager, the laboratory technician is responsible for supporting an original equipment manufacturing company by conducting everything from laboratory analyses, bench top tests to pilot plant studies in an industrial plant setting.

The Lab Technician job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

- Perform quality control analyses on new stock items.
- Prepare chemical reagents using prescribed methods or calculating requirements for composition.
- Maintain general neatness of organization of laboratory and pilot plant areas, including: Cleaning labware, sample bottles and wiping down counter surfaces, Cleaning tanks and pilot equipment.
- Perform chemical analyses following prescribed analytical techniques.
- Operation of laboratory instruments such as ICP, AAS, IC, pH meters etc.
- Maintain laboratory chemical wastes for disposal as well as some treatment, utilizing simple chemical and physical treatment techniques.
- Assist with pilot plant equipment setup and operation under the direction of more senior personnel.
- Carry out routine maintenance and general repair of equipment.
- Complete mass balance calculations on test work as required.
- Document test results and findings in a clear and detailed manner.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Perform other related duties as required by senior members of the department and manager.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment in designated areas (safety glasses, gloves, safety boots, hearing protection etc.)

**Other considerations**:

- Physical ability climbing, stooping, reaching, twisting, bending, kneeling, grasping, pushing, pulling, etc. for working on pilot units and lab.
- Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lb) and be able to stand for extended periods as required.

**Requirements**:

- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English.
- Minimum education Chemical technician/technologist diploma at community college.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
