**Conservation - Wildlife & Industry** Any WWF-Canada office
**Overview**
The Specialist, Wildlife and Industry, will provide expert advice and take action to ensure delivery of the organization’s goal to reduce industrial threats on wildlife. They will support multiple projects that reduce industrial threats which are national in scope and, also, focus on threats that affect WWF-Canada’s priority geographical regions.

**Responsibilities**
- Contribute expertise, coordinate or lead projects to advance priorities to reduce the impact of industrial threats on wildlife in Canada and its ocean territory, in line with Regenerate Canada, WWF-Canada’s 10-year strategic plan.
- Build and maintain critical knowledge of select industry sectors and conservation, including impacts of industry on ecosystems and communities and remaining aware of best practices to sustain the well-being of both.
- Conduct in-depth research, and analysis and consult with external partners and regarding strategy and policy direction on conservation and industrial issues.
- Support WWF Colleagues with engagement across sectors and with partners (e.g., governments, Indigenous communities, civil society, coastal communities, academia, and industry stakeholders) to identify and build opportunities and solutions to activities that pose a threat to wildlife habitat and climate stability in WWF-Canada’s geographic areas of focus.
- Take an evidence-based approach, with respect for Indigenous knowledge and priorities, to work with Indigenous and local communities, industry, all levels of government and other stakeholders towards conservation outcomes.
- Contribute expertise on WWF’s positions on existing and new developments affecting WWF-Canada’s priority areas and priority species, and to conservation-support activities such as communications and raising funds.
- Work collectively with external individuals, groups, and organizations to determine how to obtain, collect, access, use and report their data
**Qualifications**
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of industry activities, regulatory regimes, industry interests and best practices, community and Indigenous engagement, and research related to industrial threats to wildlife and habitats.
- Proven project management and project coordination skills.
- Deep expertise related to shipping and/or forestry is considered as asset.
- Ability to build respect, trust and partnerships with Indigenous communities, industry, academics and other groups by understanding their priorities and role as key drivers behind achieving and benefiting from conservation outcomes.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, creative, and strategic thinking capabilities coupled with an outcome, delivery-oriented approach.
- Proven experience of effective collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with multi-stakeholder groups, to deliver on major conservation outcomes.
- Familiarity with First Nations Principles of OCAP, BC First Nations Data Governance Initiative, or other similar data sovereignty guidelines an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of WWF-Canada’s mission and objectives, and a demonstrated passionate commitment to its success in accomplishing them.
- Ability to build and maintain results-orientated relationships and partnerships internally and externally.
**Other Information**
This role may require safe travel. Safe travel will be determined by following guidelines of Federal, Territorial and Provincial governments and following consultation with local and Indigenous communities.
