**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the organization. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, auditing, taxation, and internal control policies. The Controller will collaborate closely with the executive team and department heads to make informed financial decisions and drive the company's financial success. Additionally, the controller will supervise and oversee staff in the accounting department.
**JOB DUTIES**:
- Complete financial statement preparation (monthly and year-end) and analysis of results.
- Budget preparation detailing variances from current operations and long-term plans.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial taxation laws, reporting requirements, and other statutory obligations.
- Coordinate and collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Optimize the company's cash position, oversee investments, and ensure prudent treasury management practices.
- Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to team members.
- Produce and maintain the salaried payroll and related reports.
- Prepare required cash flow analysis.
- Instruct and supervise staff in the accounting department during the completion of assignments.
- Establish work methods and targets for the department.
- Maintain the fixed asset ledger.
- Prepare capital acquisition reports for shareholders as required.
- Participate in the selection of personnel for assigned departments.
- Prepare Job cost analyses.
- Complete required government reports.
- Act as a liaison between tax authorities and business owners.
- Demonstrate strategic and long-term planning.
- Complete special assignments as required.
- Attend management meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
**EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Portray a business and professional image.
- Communicate effectively, both written and verbally, to give and receive instructions accurately.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of company policies/benefits.
- Interface well with all levels of associates.
- Maintain strong organizational skills with minimum supervision.
- Willing to take courses and implement results as required.
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Make informed decisions.
- Supervise Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Phone and Computer Systems.
- Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and comply with Omex’s business code of conduct.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- CA, CGA, CMA designation, or equivalent work experience.
- Business administration diploma or equivalent.
- 5 + years’ experience, preferably in Manufacturing.
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, taxation laws, and regulatory compliance.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with a variety of computer software programs.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
**IMPORTANT NOTE**:
- This is not a work from home or hybrid position.
- This role is available due to retirement.
