Your Opportunity:
This Dietitian I position with Alberta Health Services, Nutrition Services (NS) reports directly to the Manager, Nutrition Services, Child Health, Calgary Zone. Under the direction of the Manager, Nutrition Services, the Dietitian I is responsible for direct client and family care for pediatric & adult clients, including during pregnancy, in the Metabolic Disorders Clinic at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. As an integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team, he/she completes nutrition screening, assessment, formulates nutrition care plans, provides nutrition support and appropriate nutrition education for clients and their caregivers (as applicable), documents nutrition care/recommendations, evaluates outcomes and communicates with relevant health care professionals. The dietitian has a strong background in providing & leading evidence-informed nutrition care via all modes of nutrient delivery for clients with a wide variety of inherited metabolic disorders in the outpatient clinic as well as during inpatient admissions. This Dietitian actively integrates patient-and family-centered care principles into practice; has excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrates critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem solving skills; has excellent time management and prioritization skills; and maintains continuing professional and practice competencies through professional development activities. The dietitian will play an active role in the education of nutrition interns, nursing and medical staff to ensure the delivery of consistent, accurate, evidence based nutrition information. Responsibilities will also include participation on zone and/or provincial NS committees and/or research projects as required for meeting Provincial NS Child Health Strategy & Standards targets and/or Metabolic Clinic targets/initiatives.
Description:
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

**Required Qualifications**:
Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Minimum three or more years of experience in pediatric clinical nutrition. Experience with & knowledge of complex pediatric medical diagnoses and therapeutic nutrition needs. Experience with & knowledge of nutrient delivery via oral, enteral and parenteral means. This position normally works Monday - Friday 0800-1615h. A few times per year this dietitian is required to be on call for weekend coverage for IMD patients.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
Demonstrated strength & experience with nutrition counselling for behaviour change. Experience working with adults and women during pregnancy.
