Sherwood Care is seeking a qualified Director of Recreation to join our team

**Responsibilities**
- Develop, implement, and oversee therapeutic recreation programs, volunteer services, and departmental systems designed to serve residents.
- Work collaboratively with team members to continuously innovate, execute, and monitor recreational programs that meet the evolving needs of seniors. Gather feedback from residents, families, and staff to assess program effectiveness and satisfaction, implementing updates as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate recreational therapy into individualized care plans. Conduct assessments to identify residents' interests, preferences, and abilities to personalize recreational activities.
- Manage the Recreation department with duties such as recruitment, training, scheduling, ensuring policy and safety compliance, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Provide ongoing support, recognition, and appreciation to employees and volunteers for their contributions.
- Collaborate with other members of the Leadership Team to meet the goals and objectives of the organization in alignment with the company Vision, Mission, Values and strategic direction.
- Ensure the safe operation of all therapeutic recreation equipment, materials, and inventory, ensuring work areas and materials are clean, hazard free, stored properly.
- Develop documentation, activity schedules, and internal/external communication on behalf of the department.

**Qualifications**
- A degree in Therapeutic Recreation is required.
- Either a current or actively pursuing membership with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association is an asset.
- Approximately 2 - 5 years of previous work experience in a long-term care facility with knowledge of senior and resident care needs.
- Technical and computer literacy including Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and Legislation is an asset.
