**Retail Store - Summer Student Contractor**

This position is responsible for assisting the Retail Store Supervisor in fulfilling the duties required to operate an efficient and profitable retail outlet.

**Responsibilities**:

- Operate the cash register and process the sale of merchandise
- Greet and interact with customers and monitor customers to assist the store in loss prevention
- Maintain the appearance of the store, some cleaning as required
- Stock shelves, checking for freshness - remove product if necessary
- Answer phone, takes orders for special request or large order requests
- Ensure that the store is never left unattended, one person present at all times
- Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean environment
- Respond to customer complaints and comments
- Package product as required i.e. bagels, predeposit muffins, cookies
- Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality
- Learn the supervisor duties as required
- Back up the supervisor as required when they are absent
- Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual
- Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
- Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed
- Perform all other duties assigned

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred

Strong front-line customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Service oriented - high need to please
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal & written)
- High level of accuracy and detailing
- Proficient and dependable
