Heritage Christian Online School (HCOS) is a K-12 Online School, providing fully accredited, Christian education to students in BC. At HCOS, we are focused on growing in academics as we grow in relationship with Jesus.

Within the Special Education Department, our goal is to provide supportive and flexible Christ-centred programming to students who have special needs and are learning at home enabling them to reach their God-given potential.

Heritage Christian Online School has need for a self-employed independent contractor to work in **Sechelt, BC** as a Special Education Assistant supporting a student in their home **10 hours per week in the mornings.**

Specific training working with students with special needs, such as an Education Assistant certificate (or equivalent) is required.
- have a strong background in Special Education with knowledge of generalized learning difficulties, co-regulation strategies, and working with students who are still developing their skills in self-regulation.
- help foster conversational skills.
- help the student with their ability to regulate their emotions and utilize coping skills when they become dysregulated.
- support the student in learning to identify letters and letter sounds, create blended sounds, and sound out two and three-letter words. They will work with a structured printing program to develop letter formation. The EA will work with the student to develop their number identification to 10, counting skills to 20, and introduce the concept of addition using concrete objects.
- understand the need to be flexible and adaptable.
- have a desire to learn and grow in knowledge of Special Education.
- have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to work with a broader student support team.
- be technologically proficient.
- be able to work well independently within a scaffolded environment.
- have a valid Class 5 driver's licence.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 10 per week

**Salary**: $20.00-$30.90 per hour
