Under direction of the Roadmaster the Equipment Operator will be responsible for inspecting/operating/servicing all heavy equipment & track maintenance tools and perform other duties as required.

**Scope**

To operate all equipment required to perform track maintenance duties and maintain the track infrastructure to ensure safe for travel.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the safe operation of all equipment required in this position.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on equipment.
- Regularly communicate via 2-way radio with site rail operations as required
- Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

   

**Qualifications**
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school education or general education (GED)
- Must have a valid Driver’s License; a front-end loader operator course an asset.
- Able to pass WATCO background check requirements
- Do we need a heavy equipment operator certification
- Rigging and Hoisting certification
- Abel to pass WATCO background check requirements
- Pass drug and alcohol tests
- 1 or more year(s) related experience preferred but not required
- Applicant must pass the General SOP testing, Heavy Equipment function test along with Team Member demonstration check list.
- Obtain Alberta track inspection certification to meet Level II requirements
- Must be able to pass and or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position.  
- Pass WATCO Training
- Pass Watco Track System Safety Standards Exam
- Pass Watco CWR exam.  

**Skills and Abilities**
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, inspection checklists and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and interact appropriately with others.
- Ability to work in all types of weather.
- Ability to work the scheduled shifts required for the position and/ or overtime as needed.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance.
- Ability to operate track maintenance tools and equipment
- Ability and willingness to take on responsibilities outside the core role responsibilities as needed by the sites.

The team member is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and elements, noise, and fumes from gas, oil, and grease.
