We are recruiting a Caregiver to assist our male family member (who has Alzhermer's) with activities of daily living in the family home.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Redirect the client to activities such as a puzzle, reading a book, listening to music, as well as help him to look for things.

Must have ability to empathize with client when he feels uncomfortable or unfamiliar with the surroundings.

Must be very patient, relaxed, and speak clearly and slowly.

Accompany during leisure activities like going for walks.

Snack and drink preparation, and light housekeeping.

Assist and remind client how to use washroom.

More personal care tasks may be required in the future as Alzheimer's progresses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Knowledge of Dementia

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Dementia care experience required (personal or professional)

ADDITIONAL INFO:
Applicant must be fully COVID vaccinated as our family member is vulnerable and more susceptible to the severe symptoms.

8 hours during weekdays (short shifts 2-3 hrs/day), and 4 hrs on Saturday OR Sunday (12 hrs/week in total). Possibility of more hours in the future.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 12 per week

**Salary**: $26.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Every Weekend
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Parksville, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
