GerrAudio is searching for a competent Technical Support & Repair Technician to join the team in Brockville, Ontario.

This position will work closely with internal sales and support teams, and international supplier partners to ensure all after-sales repairs and technical support issues are resolved to the customer’s highest satisfaction.

Position Requirements:

- Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing technical problems on mechanical and/or electrical equipment
- Experience soldering electrical components (board-level, component swap, cable re-termination, custom cable fabrication); includes ability to solder very small components under a microscope
- Experience working with IT network infrastructure and networkable devices
- Ability to read and make sense of schematic technical drawings
- Proven customer technical support experience
- Highly organized with exceptional time management skills; ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
- Customer-oriented and ability to adapt/respond to different types of personalities

*Bonus: experience with Audio Precision measurement tools, Rational Acoustic Smaart prediction software, networkable audio devices, miniature microphones, power amplifiers, audio DSP, intercom communications systems, digital and analogue audio interfaces/converters.

Position Responsibilities:

- Diagnose all incoming service items; determine if equipment can be fixed locally in Brockville or if it needs to be sent to the original manufacturer to be serviced
- Determine warranty status of all incoming service items based on manufacturer’s warranty guidelines
- Read product schematics and use collected knowledge to execute error-free repairs
- Consult internal resources and external supplier contacts to execute timely, accurate repairs
- Schedule and perform all bench repairs of items serviced onsite; board-level soldering, component swapping, re-termination of cabling, custom cable fabrication
- Maintain the parts inventory of regular stock items; work with inventory coordinator to order necessary parts
- Work with each supplier to keep updated records of pricing lists, equipment schematics, etc.
- Maintain an extremely organized and tidy shop area
- Perform modifications to new equipment as necessary; prep and test outgoing equipment prior to shipment; update product software, modify components, etc.

OTHER GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
- Adopt general operational ability and knowledge sharing with all internal departments (basic training will be provided on all job duties)
- Conduct occasional offsite repairs when necessary (GTA, Ottawa, Montreal, New York/USA and other); must be willing and able to do occasional travel

QUALIFICATIONS:

- High school graduate who has taken relevant community college courses and/or relevant industry experience
- A demonstrated interest mechanical or electrical technology will assist in gaining a thorough technical knowledge of the company’s products
- 2+ years’ experience as a bench technician and/or relevant industry experience
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to listen and communicate effectively (written & verbal)
- Developed time management and organizational skills, ability to set priorities, meet established deadlines, be proactive, make decisions and solve customer’s problems and disputes efficiently
- Ability to multi-task, be flexible and work independently while being cooperative and supportive as a member of a small team
- Experience working in a production rental shop with a centralized ERP management system will be considered an asset
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License to drive the company’s van(s) while not negatively impacting the company’s automobile insurance premiums; access to a personal vehicle that may be used for business use from time to time is considered an asset
- Bondable and/or able to produce/secure a Police Record Search Certificate
- Ownership of or ability to obtain a valid Canadian Passport and to travel freely into the USA

WORKING CONDITIONS: Required to work 40 hours per week, 8:30am-5pm, Mon-Fri

Attendance at some meetings, demonstrations & trade shows may be required (including overnight)

Overtime may be required from time to time
