**THE ROLE**: A cell assembly technician is responsible for preparing and assembling cell components to produce lithium-ion batteries. They perform complex assemblies using small-scale production equipment according to work instructions and specifications. They also work with R&D and engineering teams to assist in determining assembly procedures, organizing schedules, collecting data and monitoring equipment issues.

**DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Set up and run small-scale manufacturing equipment for assembling and preparing products while following equipment, product, and safety procedures/specifications.
- Regularly perform quality checks, take corrective actions to minimize defects, collect data, and complete data entry.
- Coordinate with the team lead and other cell assembly technicians in processing incoming cell components and completing tasks required to complete all active work requests.
- Assist in developing and qualifying new production procedures.
- Assist in troubleshooting common equipment and product issues. Report irregularities when noted.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area organized and clean (counting and labelling, vacuuming/washing, disposal of old materials). Have a keen attention to detail; strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Experience as a technician in a research, testing, or manufacturing environment. A diploma in a technical field (manufacturing, assembly, technology) is an asset, but not mandatory.
- Experience performing advanced product assembly using automated equipment and/or manual mechanical tools is preferred.
- Good manual dexterity and basic mechanical/electrical aptitude.
- Proven experience with computers (MS Office Excel, Word and Outlook). Familiarity with data entry and collection with databases is an asset.
- Is eager to learn new skills and can adapt in a rapidly changing environment. Willing to assist in performing atypical, experimental tasks with experienced technicians, engineers, and scientists.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under mínimal supervision when required.
- Be willing to identify and solve problems. Have a keen attention to detail and accuracy; strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to wear PPE, including but not limited to a respirator, eye protection, lab coat, and safety shoes.
- Ability to work in dry room environment.
