Position Summary
This position is responsible for inventory management and control of the Transit Fleet Maintenance Parts Warehouse operations. This position reports to the Coordinator of Transit Fleet Maintenance. Key Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise and direct all activities and staff in the parts warehouse.
Determines, monitors and maintains the proper parts inventory levels for a wide variety of vehicle parts.
Administer weekly fast-moving parts procurement to determine where to source parts, while considering other factors such as vehicle down time and costs.
Maintain purchase orders records to ensure orders are delivered and received on time and follow up on with vendors on back orders.
Maintain records of parts lists and technical literature relating to all transit equipment.
Maintain a strong relationship with the vendors and suppliers.
Assist staff at parts counter to provide parts/supplies to technicians when required.
Provides direct supervision, leadership, mentoring and coaching of parts person staff with a focus on the provision of guidance, direction and development and formal performance reviews
Conducts performance planning for staff (goal setting, review and assessment) and ensures that performance process is complete for all direct reports.
Ability to process purchase orders in Oracle Financial.
Ability to work with a computerized inventory management system; M5 Fleet Focus or equivalent.
Direct the maintenance of ledgers, inventory records, and inventory reports.
Direct and assist the taking of physical inventory counts bi annually.
Lead team members with the caretaking, cleaning and organization of the parts warehouse.
Perform related work as required. Key Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by third-level PMAC (Purchasing Management Association of Canada) courses or possession of an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Parts Certificate.
Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a parts warehouse environment.
Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and practices.
Demonstrated experience in receiving, stocking, tagging, and issuing supplies within a computerized inventory system.
Proficient in maintaining accurate records and inventory documentation using computerized systems.
Solid understanding of accounting functions and parts procurement procedures in accordance with current purchasing policies.
Thorough knowledge of Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual.
Ability to effectively follow oral and written instructions.
Capable of interpreting and adapting technical procedures in a modern parts environment.
Familiarity with the M5 Operating System.
Physically capable of performing manual labour, including heavy lifting.
Strong interpersonal skills; able to interact courteously and tactfully with coworkers, clients, and the public.
Effective team player with the ability to work collaboratively in a quality-focused environment.
Skilled in interpreting parts manuals and utilizing video display terminals for information retrieval. Working/Other Conditions
May work varying shifts, including rotating weekends. Valid driver’s license required. Must have or be able to obtain Forklift Operator and WHMIS certifications. Work involves standing, sitting, and frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, and upper body movement. Surfaces include concrete, asphalt, and metal stairs. Exposure to diesel exhaust, dust, chemicals, soaps, and lubrication products.
