Ottawa, Canada Institute of Mine Seismology Full time

The Institute of Mine Seismology (IMS) is the world's largest independent research organisation focused on developing methodologies, technologies, and services to monitor and manage the seismic rock mass response to mining. IMS has a significant presence in 43 countries and serves over 300 clients globally. IMS has offices in Canada, Australia, and South Africa.

IMS Canada has a customer base that spans North, Central and South America. Given this, communicating with clients in multiple languages is a large part of the work. Fluency in English is essential, but proficiency in Spanish and French will be highly beneficial to the role.

Job tasks and responsibilities
- Develop and maintain expertise in the hardware and software products of IMS to provide support services.
- System administration on customer systems, including software upgrades, software setup and configuration and data archiving.
- Hardware fault finding and minor repair of IMS-manufactured equipment and reporting of issues in relevant platforms.
- Movement and management of stock, both physically and tracking using existing platforms and procedures.
- Preparation of orders, both physically and tracking using existing platforms and procedures.
- Working closely with the administration team to coordinate production-related tasks.
- Preparation and upkeep of documentation as required.
- Availability to share 24-hour standby duty with the team as per the rotating schedule.

Other role requirements
- Willingness to be available during designated times outside normal working hours for mission-critical problems at customer sites.

Required skills and experience
- Fluency in English (read, write, speak).
- Technical Diploma or higher in IT/Engineering (other Technical qualifications will also be considered).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal) to provide excellent customer service.
- Embody exceptional time management, a strong work ethic, self-motivation, and autonomy.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems and think critically.
- Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, prioritising quality and reliability.
- Computer & network hardware fundamentals and hands-on experience.
- Motivation and willingness to work extra hours to meet deadlines.
- Quick learner with a can-do attitude.

Preferred skills and experience (not essential)
- Spanish/French proficiency
- Engineering education and/or experience
- Networking and system administration experience
- Linux familiarity and experience
- Command line computing proficiency
- Understanding of electrical theory

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year

Additional pay:

- Bonus pay

- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Weekends as needed
