**Job Summary**
We are seeking an experienced **NDT Technician (UT & MPI Level II)** to perform **non-destructive testing on steel plates and related components** in accordance with applicable **ASTM, ASME, CSA, and customer specifications**. This role requires hands-on inspection experience, strong technical judgment, and the ability to produce clear, compliant inspection reports.

**Key ResponsibilitiesUltrasonic Testing (UT)**
- Perform **manual ultrasonic testing** on **carbon steel and alloy steel plates** for:

- Lamination detection
- Internal discontinuities
- Thickness measurement and corrosion assessment
- Set up and calibrate UT equipment using:

- IIW blocks, step wedges, and reference standards
- Interpret A-scan signals and evaluate indications per:

- ASTM A578 / A435
- ASTM E164 / E317
- ASME Section V
- CSA and customer specifications
- Determine acceptance or rejection of material based on applicable criteria
- Verify material thickness, uniformity, and integrity

**Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)**
- Perform **wet and dry MPI** on steel plates and fabricated components
- Conduct inspections using:

- Yokes (AC/DC)
- Prods (when applicable)
- Bench units (if required)
- Interpret surface and near-surface indications
- Evaluate results per:

- ASTM E1444 / E709
- ASME Section V
- Customer and project specifications

**General Duties**
- Prepare and maintain **inspection reports**, sketches, and records
- Ensure compliance with **ISO 17025**, quality procedures, and safety requirements
- Verify material identification, heat numbers, and traceability
- Communicate inspection results clearly to supervisors, engineers, and clients
- Maintain and care for NDT equipment and accessories
- Follow all **health, safety, and environmental (HSE)** requirements
- Assist with audits, procedure reviews, and technical clarifications when required

**Qualifications & RequirementsMandatory**
- **UT Level II certification** (ASNT or CGSB)
- **MPI Level II certification** (ASNT or CGSB)
- Minimum **2-5 years of hands-on NDT experience**, preferably in:

- Steel plate inspection
- Heavy manufacturing
- Fabrication or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of:

- ASTM, ASME Section V, CSA standards
- Acceptance criteria and defect evaluation
- Ability to read and interpret:

- Engineering drawings
- Specifications and standards
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally if required

**Preferred / Asset**
- Experience with:

- ASTM A578 plate UT inspection
- Thickness mapping and lamination surveys
- Familiarity with ISO 17025 quality systems
- Additional NDT certifications (PT, VT) are an asset
- Prior experience working in accredited laboratories or regulated environments

**Responsabilités principalesEssais par ultrasons (UT)**
- Effectuer des essais par ultrasons manuels sur des **plaques en acier au carbone et en acier allié** pour:

- La détection de laminations
- La détection de discontinuités internes
- La mesure d’épaisseur et l’évaluation de la corrosion
- Installer et étalonner les équipements UT à l’aide de:

- Blocs IIW, cales étagées (step wedges) et étalons de référence
- Interpréter les signaux **A-scan** et évaluer les indications conformément à:

- ASTM A578 / A435
- ASTM E164 / E317
- ASME Section V
- Normes CSA et spécifications des clients
- Déterminer l’acceptation ou le rejet des matériaux selon les critères applicables
- Vérifier l’épaisseur, l’uniformité et l’intégrité des matériaux

**Essais par magnétoscopie (MPI)**
- Effectuer des essais de magnétoscopie **humides et secs** sur des plaques d’acier et des composants fabriqués
- Réaliser les inspections à l’aide de:

- Culasses magnétiques (AC/DC)
- Électrodes (prods), lorsque requis
- Bancs de magnétoscopie, au besoin
- Appliquer les techniques de magnétisation et les orientations
