**About the Position**
The policy analyst will support the research and activities of the NAP Global Network Secretariat, which is hosted by the IISD Resilience program.
Among other tasks, the policy analyst will conduct research and analysis related to NAP documents and processes to advance the NAP Global Network Secretariat’s objective on generating, synthesizing, and sharing knowledge.
The policy analyst will also be the lead responsible for updating the NAP Trends database. This will involve reviewing NAP documents, inputting data into the database, doing quality assurance on the data entered, and continuously updating the guidance for the management of data.
The policy analyst reports to the NAP Global Network Knowledge Manager
**Responsibilities**:
**Strategy, Vision, and Team Leadership**
- Contribute to identifying challenges, emerging issues, and solutions within the NAP Global Network’s knowledge activities.
- Within all NAP Global Network research projects and, more broadly, promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
- Manage own time and inputs into projects to deliver research outputs on time and to budget.
- Manage relationships with external contractors engaged to support NAP Global Network knowledge activities (i.e., maintenance of NAP Trends, development of a NAP research portal).
**Research**
- Management of the NAP Trends database, including ongoing reviews of NAP documents using the methodology established by the NAP Global Network, inputting data and information in the database back end, and updating the data entry guidance to ensure consistency across document reviews.
- Conduct primary and secondary research and write reports for the NAP Global Network, working with external contractors as required.
- Draft research and other project outputs to the required standard, including research reports, policy briefs, and technical reports, including regular analysis of NAP documents and related documents from NAP processes.
- Undertake analysis and evaluation of approaches and methodologies used for NAP Global Network research.
- Develop evaluation criteria, methodology and systems and implement them in NAP Global Network research, including supporting the development of an internal NAP research portal.
- Support information management of NAP Global Network knowledge assets through maintaining an internal “Knowledge Toolkit” on SharePoint.
- Prepare, present, and communicate high-quality research findings to priority audiences.
**Communications and Outreach**
- Assist in communicating the knowledge work of the NAP Global Network to priority audiences, including attending events and developing outreach materials.
- Maintain contacts with NAP Global Network partners.
- Supporting the organization of peer-to-peer learning events, webinars, and other virtual events organized by the Resilience Program. The policy analyst will support the organization and facilitation of these events, which may include support for the development of PowerPoints and other materials, including pre
- and post-surveys, managing technology and/or note-taking during the session, and synthesis of key messages for communications and knowledge products.
**Ongoing Support to the Resilience Program**
In addition to the above, ongoing or ad hoc tasks may include:
- Participating in weekly Resilience team meetings, as well as other meetings as requested by the Knowledge Manager.
- Supporting secondary research and interviews with partners to gather information on other resilience topics.
- Preparing summaries of projects or documents to support communication and the implementation of Resilience projects.
**Qualifications**:
- A master’s degree or equivalent in international development, climate change, environmental studies, environmental education, geography, conservation, or another similar area.
- Availability to travel internationally.
**Knowledge and Experience**:
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a relevant position, focusing on data management and analysis.
- Understanding of climate change adaptation, particularly in the Global South.
- Knowledge of international development.
- Desirable: Experience reviewing policy documents.
