The National Wildlife Centre is a non-profit organization that works within the interconnection of humans, Canadian wildlife and the environment through a OneHealth concept. We help native wildlife through our programs aimed at conservation goals to protect ecosystems, populations of wild animals, and the health of individual animals.
The National Wildlife Centre (NWC) is seeking a seasoned fundraising and outreach coordinator to join its tight-knit team. In this role, the fundraising and outreach coordinator will use expert communication skills and a keen sense of initiative to identify fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors, and manage fundraising campaigns. By coordinating events, writing proposals, and recruiting and leading volunteers, the fundraiser will hone speaking, writing, and leadership abilities while targeting NWC’s financial goals.
**Objectives of this role**
- Promote awareness of the organization’s mission and work
- Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers
- Identify new fundraising opportunities
- Plan and execute fundraising initiatives to help the organization meet financial goals
- Form strong relationships with external stakeholders
- Ensure major donors are satisfied and kept in the loop
**Responsibilities**
- Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that are interested in gift giving
- Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors
- Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns
- Organize fundraising events while overseeing teams of volunteers
- Manage a budget and track whether goals are being met
- Maintains a portfolio of active and pending grants and opportunities and provides monthly status reports
- Build relationships with potential donors, corporations, and individuals who may be interested in supporting the NWC
- Creates and distributes standard and special reports, studies, summaries, and analyses, as required
- Implement strategic programs and initiatives designed to improve the public visibility of our organization
- Create and edit promotional materials to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communications materials
- Execute social media campaigns on online platforms
- Manage and maintain the company’s website
- Maintain a strong online presence through all social media outlets, including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn
**Required skills and qualifications**
- At least three years of experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to lead and motivate colleagues and volunteers
- Strong attention to detail
- Passion for research
- Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning big events
**Preferred skills and qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, business, public relations, or related field
- Certification, diploma, or similar qualification or experience in fundraising
- Competence with donor management systems
- Experience in writing grant proposals, press releases, and fundraising letters
- Confidence in public speaking
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.21-$25.00 per hour
