The technician will be responsible for ensuring that the lab is a safe and inclusive space for all individuals who use it. The technician will work closely with our teachers to create prototypes, test designs, and produce custom products.Working under the direction of the STEM Director, the technician will work with teachers and school leadership to support key aspects of the schools STEM options programming. The technician will help establish new programs and build new partnerships in the community, so they must have an entrepreneurial mindset, be able to work independently and be passionate about STEM education and relationship-building. Key Responsibilities: Operate and maintain various fabrication equipment, including laser cutters, 3D printers, and electronics assembly tools.Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed, including basic electrical and mechanical repairs.Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the fabrication lab.Ensure that all work is performed safely and in accordance with established protocols and procedures.Maintain an inventory of equipment, supplies, and materials in the fabrication lab.Collaborate with other members of the options teaching team to develop and implement new programs and initiatives.Train and provide technical support to users of the fabrication lab, including students, faculty, and staff.

Familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations is preferred.Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and related tools preferred.Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles and ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance on equipment.Experience with 3D printing, laser cutting, and other fabrication tools and equipment.Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Qualification: Bachelors degree or diploma in a STEM field, Education, or other relevant field preferred. Alberta Teaching certificate is not required.Relevant experience working with youth in educational and/or recreational settings is an asset.
