- The annual salary range is $70,437- $112,872 (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications, experience, and the placement criteria of Article 14 of the NICFA Collective agreement.**Position Summary**
- Reporting to the Dean of Trades and Technical programs or designate, the Coordinator supports trades and technical programing, on-campus and in-community. The position is based out of the Campbell River campus and will require some travel.
The Coordinator also works to enhance the functions of the trades program and service delivery to foster faculty (including instructional and non-instructional) and student success. The Coordinator provides educational leadership in support of students and faculty, including apprenticeship, certificate, diploma, pathway, and contract programming. The Coordinator also facilitates delivery of the Essential Skills Workplace Success programming in trades foundation courses, Level 1 apprenticeship courses, and provides continued support of students and their connection to industry. A principal purpose of the position is to enhance and expand linkages between trades and technical faculty, employers, and sponsors.
- The Coordinator is accountable for supporting instructional faculty with the delivery of high-quality programming. They will also support the development of new programming and the ongoing review of full-time and part-time programs, while ensuring programs are relevant to the needs of students, industry, and the community at large, as aligned with regional economic development plans and NIC’s BUILD 2026 strategic plan.
- The advancement of trades and technical programming involves: researching and assessing labor market needs; conducting community and industry-based needs assessment; where relevant collaborating with decanal and service departments; preparing relevant proposals; establishing curriculum development plans; where opportunities arise, developing student research activities; monitoring trades-based data generation; preparing relevant reports and; participating with associated committees. The Coordinator will actively support enhanced strategic recruitment and retention initiatives, promote student transition to employment opportunities, and will actively advance work-integrated learning across trades and technical programs.
- The Coordinator’s day-to-day priorities consistently include being the first point of contact for faculty across all programs and campuses while liaising with service departments regarding student and academic performance matters and being versed on policies, procedures, and requirements. The role also entails supporting formal program review, preparing curriculum education council submissions, coordinating program information sessions and industry events, supporting program advisory committees, informing and facilitating program recruitment and marketing priorities, being a resource in support of instructional excellence, coordinating group professional development and monitoring annual faculty professional development plans and schedules. The role also involves the development and facilitation of blended occupational and employability skills training across programs.**Position Competencies**

- Collaborate with the office of the dean to inform faculty personnel planning and recruitment strategies (including substitute instructor recruitment strategy) in addition to faculty onboarding.
- Support faculty and, when requested, act as a liaison with the office of the dean.
- Collaborate with the office of the dean and the office of teaching and learning to initiate and conduct program reviews according to College Policy.
