**POSITION MANDATE**

**REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES**

Technical
- Conceptualizes digital solutions where conventional solutions are required and clearly explains the concept to technical and non-technical people.
- Executes and implements digital solutions including software development, programming, code review, sensor and equipment specification, prototyping, testing and monitoring.
- Provides code review.
- Prepares and presents concepts, pre-feasibility, and feasibility plans to Team Power Solutions management for funding approval.
- Administers and executes engineering activities of projects from conceptualization to successful implementation.
- Takes responsibility for building complex software systems that are successfully delivered to customers.
- Influences software developers’ best practices within the team.

Project Management
- Prepares progress reports, costing and schedule updates on all ongoing initiatives (internal and external).
- Oversees project work including juggling team and customer timelines and monitoring the budget.
- Provides technical advice and guidance, with emphasis on safety.
- Liaises with the customer throughout the project.
- Manages inter-departmental communications and relationships in support of specific project needs.
- Completes own work safely and ensures safety standards are met.

Oversight
- Provides technical support to team.
- Provides technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers and staff as required.

Sales/Customer Relations
- Monitors existing customer systems and recommends improvements by integrating new technologies.
- Performs digital assessments for customers.
- Effectively communicates with customers, users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe digital solutions, software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 2+ years professional experience in data science, software development, robotics or machine learning. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The following knowledge base is preferred:

- Knowledgeable in Python.
- Knowledgeable in JavaScript, HTML or CSS.
- Knowledgeable with SQL and relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL).
- Knowledgeable in using cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledgeable in version control (git) and other publicly accepted good-practice programming procedures.
- Ability to develop modern full-stack web servers.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Presented problems (e.g., process improvements, systems function optimally) are addressed effectively and documented where appropriate.
- The quality of work, decisions made and documentation submitted reflects the incumbent’s specialist qualifications.
- Peer reviews (e.g., manager review of the work) confirm expectations are met.
- Customers’ feedback on projects and the incumbent is positive.
- Projects are delivered on time and on budget.
- Resources are efficiently utilized to minimize department overhead.
- The quality of the work delivered meets expectations.
- New sites and customers grow into more work and long-term customers.
- Suggestions for technical solutions and/or project management improvements support the achievement of project outcomes.
- Compliance with relevant policies, procedures, standards and practices, legislation and codes meet expectations.
