**Position Summary**
This position is fulltime, Thursday to Monday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, compensated at $24.41 per hour.
**Responsibilities**
- Execute the preparation of meals and snacks in accordance with standardized recipes, safety and health standards and according to nutritional guidelines as set out in the Canada Food Guide for Healthy Eating
- Unpackage dry goods in dry storage and cooler as required making sure items are properly rotated
- Ensure compliance with all HACCP Food Safe guidelines in the handling and storage of all food supplies
- Properly labeling and storing leftovers at the end of each meal
- Assist Kitchen Supervisor with menu development, creation, and rotation when required
- Assist Kitchen Supervisor to complete monthly inventory
- Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards
- Completion documentation assigned or required in the course of duties including daily logs as well as unusual or serious incident reports
- Assisting dining room staff with serving meals when required
- Administering First Aid to Residents in the case of an incident
- Assist in dishing meals, washing dishes and mopping floors as required
- Maintaining resident and staff confidentiality
- Other related duties as may be required
**Qualifications**
- Minimum Grade 12 Diploma
- Post Secondary Culinary Certificate, Cook Red Seal Certification or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years kitchen experience in a high-volume facility or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience working in and with the Indigenous Community would be an asset
- Courses required and paid for by M’akola:
- Food Safe Level ll
- Occupational First Aid Level l Certificate (updated every 3 years)
- WHMIS and MSDS Certificate
- Clear Criminal Record Check
**Required Knowledge and Skills**
- Knowledge of Canada Food Guide for Healthy Eating
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety standards
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong planning and time management skills
- Ability to take direction and follow procedures
- Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or willing to get vaccinated before start date.
