The School of Trades & Apprenticeship is seeking qualified professionals to join the Powerline Technician program to teach part-time starting in September 2025.

As a part-time Professor, you will play a pivotal role in mentoring and inspiring the next generation of Powerline Technicians, sharing your expertise and experience. You can see the direct impact of your work on students’ growth and success, engage with students and colleagues in an academic setting, and contribute to the advancement and improvement of the field.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide training on our extensive fleet of industry-standard vehicles and work equipment
- Teach the skills required for the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground power-distribution systems through significant hands-on practical instruction
- Ensure program and course curriculum are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices in the field
- Design appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement
- Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessons
- Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
- Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of student work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
- Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this system
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
- Work in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the department and across the college

**Qualifications**:

- Powerline Technician (434A) Certificate of Qualification is required; a Powerline Technician Certificate of Apprenticeship is considered an asset
- Minimum five years of practical work experience in distribution at the Journeyperson level is required
- Experience with apprenticeship mentorship, adult or post-secondary level teaching is considered an asset
- Presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team
- Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels, including international students and students requiring accommodation
- Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Relationships with industry contacts and network connections are considered an asset
