They will provide clinical support and monitoring during research scans, ensuring infant safety and physiological stability at all times. The incumbent will prepare infants for MRI or fNIRS scanning, including positioning and soothing techniques, with a focus on minimizing movement and distress. They will collaborate with radiology technicians and research staff to ensure imaging protocols are followed accurately, and maintain up-to-date clinical documentation and research records, including adverse event tracking and vitals monitoring. The Research Associate will adhere to all hospital, ethical, and research protocols, including infection control and NICU-specific guidelines. They will coordinate with NICU staff for imaging of admitted neonates, including scheduling around feeding, care routines, and medical procedures. The incumbent will communicate effectively and sensitively with families about the research process, addressing concerns and providing reassurance, and contribute to ongoing improvements in clinical and imaging procedures to optimize data quality and infant well-being. **Qualifications**: **Education**: - Master's degree in a relevant discipline - Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) designation in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario **Experience**: - Experience or training in clinical research and familiarity with MRI or fNIRS procedures is an asset - Experience in neonatal or pediatric care is strongly preferred Skills, Abilities & Expertise: - Comfort working in clinical and research environments, particularly with newborns and their families - Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining accurate records - Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate study schedules - Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant scientific/research principles - Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit - Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users, and to complete detailed analytics and reports - Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required - Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy - Familiarity with University research policies and practices - Ability to adhere to legislated safety requirements and Western safety policies - Commitment to ongoing professional development with a desire to take on new challenges - Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment - Ability to work in a fluid and evolving work environment with changing deadlines and priorities - Ability to work independently and maintain direction and focus through proactive planning and organized approaches to work - Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner - Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals - Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems **Why Western?**: Consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance, experience, and qualifications.
