Fleet Supervisor

**Purpose**:
Facilities Services is a team of professionals who are committed to the delivery of support services that strive to enhance the quality of campus life for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. We are responsible for providing a safe, clean, productive, and well-maintained physical learning and working environment through the effective planning and delivery of professional services in design, construction, maintenance, utilities, caretaking, and grounds. Reporting to the Manager, Grounds, Fleet & Waste Management, the Fleet Supervisor is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and is responsible for management of day-to-day fleet operation and maintenance of Facilities Services vehicles and grounds / waste management equipment for over 100 multi-story buildings and grounds across multiple campuses totaling over 457 acres in size. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the satisfactory operation of all Facilities Services vehicles and equipment. This position assist in and supports the implementation of new policies, programs or initiatives within the University related to Fleet Management.
**Education**:
Minimum of completion of a college diploma in a related field. Class 'DZ' driver's license in good standing.
**Experience**:
This position requires a minimum five (5) years recent directly related experience in the fleet management field, along with three (3) years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment is required. Experience in fleet maintenance and operation, as well as extensive landscape construction and snow clearing/de-icing is strongly preferred.
**Skills**:
Knowledge
- Proven knowledge of government regulations and controls and their appropriate implementation/usage with respect to mechanic workshop, grounds maintenance, physical plant maintenance and construction (including AODA, building codes, fuel handling, Fire Codes, etc.).
- Thorough knowledge of current and working governmental acts, guidelines and codes with respect to air quality (smog, pollution), hazardous materials and other environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Health & Safety Act including thorough knowledge of WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) regulations.
- Knowledge of industry contractors/suppliers.
- Knowledge of WSIB and reporting incidents/accidents.
- Knowledge of Ministry of Transportation regulations due to vehicle usage.
- Intermediate MS Word, MS Excel and basic MS PowerPoint and MS Access.
- E-mail MS Outlook.
- Database systems/asset tracking programs such as Maximo.
- Lead role in overseeing cloud-based fleet tracking system/accompanying hardware (GoGPS)

**Additional Notes**:
Summary of Work Environment
- General office environment (30%), workshop (25%) and the exterior of the campus (45%).
- Exposure to inclement weather, noise, various pollutants, dust, toxins and/or chemicals in the execution of duties.
- Physical demands: requirement to walk, bend, and climb when completing work tours/inspections, as well as the ability to sit for prolonged periods.
- Significant pressure due to high volume of work with numerous competing demands. Requirement to effectively respond to time sensitive materials and situations.
