**About The CMM**

**Position Overview**

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Health and Social Services, the Mental Wellness Manager will oversee the coordination, implementation, and supervision of mental wellness and culturally based support services for the Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq (CMM). This position will provide leadership, administrative oversight, and strategic planning to ensure culturally safe, trauma-informed services for First Nations communities in Mainland Nova Scotia. The Manager will supervise staff, oversee program budgets, ensure compliance with funding agreements, and develop partnerships to strengthen service delivery.

**Overview of Responsibilities**:

- Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team, including Cultural Youth Support Worker, Resolution Health Support Worker, Mi’kmaw Support Worker, and Mental Wellness Case Manager.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide professional development, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Develop policies, procedures, and work plans aligned with organizational and community needs.
- Address staff concerns and maintain effective communication within the team.
- Ensure culturally responsive mental wellness support for First Nations individuals, families, and communities.
- Oversee healing and wellness initiatives, incorporating Indigenous knowledge and practices.
- Support staff in complex case management and ensure service delivery meets community needs.
- Organize community workshops on mental wellness, intergenerational trauma, and traditional healing.
- Collaborate with Senior Management to develop and implement strategic mental wellness initiatives.
- Identify service gaps and create new programs to address emerging needs.
- Manage program budgets and ensure compliance with funding agreements.

**Position Requirements**:

- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Health Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent education and experience).
- 3-5 years of experience in program management, mental health, or social services.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding First Nations health and wellness frameworks.
- Proven experience managing budgets and funding agreements.
- Strong understanding of Mi’kmaw culture, history, and traditional healing practices.
- Knowledge of intergenerational trauma, mental health, addictions, and Indigenous determinants of health.
- Ability to advocate for First Nations clients within provincial and federal health systems.
- Excellent leadership, conflict resolution, and team-building skills.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, budget management, and report writing.
- Effective time management and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel to First Nation communities across Mainland Nova Scotia
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Must pass a criminal record check, vulnerable sector check, and child abuse registry check.

**Salary/Employment Term**:
Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 per year. This is a Permanent Position (pending successful one-year probationary contract).
