SPM Oil & Gas currently has opening for a AQ/ QC Specialist located in Edmonton, Alberta.
**Job Duties**:
The position performs analytical process steps described in the Caterpillar Quality Management System and provides feedback to ensure continuous process improvement. Typical steps include:
**QA Duties**
- Initiate product and process engineering projects to reduce unit defects
- Develop and implement prompt containment solutions to prevent future defects
- Create and maintain prioritized project list to support quality improvement goals
- Collect and analyze data to determine component and system failure modes
- Develop and sustain relationships with technical support, customers, and field service representatives to better understand field quality issues
- Correlate warranty/field failures with factory processes and develop, implement, and maintain process improvement plans
- Develop business cases to support project and resource requirements
- Partner with Operations and Manufacturing Engineering to investigate root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions for customer complaints
- Provide New Product Quality Support as needed.
- Continuously improve QMS processes and procedures
- Conduct quality system audits, including creating audits finding reports, determining proper corrective and preventive actions and closing out audit findings
- Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data
- Support the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system
- Develop SPC (statistical process control) reporting of machine capabilities and develop corrective action programs for improvement
- Preparation of QA reports
**QC Duties**
- Responsible for the inspection and acceptance of detail parts, in various manufacturing stages, assemblies, fixtures and gauges, using a laser tracker and Faro arm and/or other appropriate measuring devices.
- Generate reports and presentations from inspections and data interpretation
- Calibration of testing equipment as per requirements of all standards.
- Perform receiving inspection of purchased parts to support daily receiving inspection function.
- Conduct, interpret, evaluate and co-ordinate NDT tests in accordance with applicable codes and specifications.
- Develop and ensure all ITP stages are followed and complied with.
- Review of Certified Material Test Reports as required
- Prepare Non-Conformance Report and initiate Corrective Action Tasks for internal and external quality issues; determine disposition or action items required by involving Management Review or Task Owner; Follow up for corrective action and verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
- Perform quality inspection in accordance with the related codes and customer specifications. Such inspections shall include but not be limited to:
- Dimensional inspections
- Visual welding inspection
- Hardness testing
- Positive material identification
Typical internal customers include employees from two or more work groups in a Division. The position's primary customers are internal. Most of the problems faced by the position are similar to those faced before and follow a pattern. The incumbent resolves issues by selecting the best solution from a few choices. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Process Quality, Internal Quality Certification, ISO 9000 Certification. The position monitors adherence to quality standards and develops action plans for addressing below standard performance.
