responsible for providing timely, effective and practical legal direction, advice and assistance to management and staff in areas such
as aboriginal law, indigenous law, and constitutional law, including the preparation and review of contracts and advocating Manitoba
Hydro's position in negotiations and before administrative tribunals and courts, preparation and review of contracts and agreements
and conducting legal research and preparing opinions.

**_ Responsibilities:_**
- Provide timely advice and opinions to management and staff on all aspects of aboriginal and indigenous matters.
- Conduct legal research, prepare and draft contracts, pleadings, briefs and settlement documents.
- Advocate Manitoba Hydro's position in negotiations, at mediations, judicially assisted dispute resolutions and arbitrations.
- Monitor evolving case law, regulatory and legislative developments and provide advice regarding how same impact the

corporation.

**_ Qualifications:_**
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from a recognized University plus a minimum of five years'

experience practicing law in a common law jurisdiction.
- Must be a member in good standing or eligible for immediate membership with the Law Society of Manitoba.
- Strong general practice experience in the areas of aboriginal law and indigenous law and experience with engaging directly
- with Indigenous Peoples.
- Experience in developing strategy, providing legal advice and making recommendations to senior management.
- Demonstrated ability to implement innovative means to challenge traditional approaches, accomplish goals and solve

problems as well as the ability to plan, adjust priorities with changing demands and ability to address multiple projects in a
time sensitive environment.
- Excellent legal research, analysis and writing skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong and positive working
- relationships and ability to recognize communication needs and adjust own language and behaviors accordingly.
- Experience in negotiations and mediations.
- Advocacy experience before courts, administrative tribunals and regulatory bodies would be considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must obtain a clear personnel risk assessment screening.

**_ Salary Range_**

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the Lawyer IV classification is $78.96-$99.43
Hourly, $151,304.92-$190,530.08 Annually. The range for the Lawyer III classification is $67.75-$84.04 Hourly,
$129,819.04-$161,045.04 Annually.
