The Daycare Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the overall day-to-day operations of the Mindwin Manido Daycare. The Supervisor will ensure that all staff are providing the continuous high quality care, services and support for children and families. The Supervisor is to ensure that the daycare is meeting any and all legislative, regulatory and licensing requirements and mandates and remain up-to-date on any changes that may require revision of practices and/or policies. The Daycare Supervisor provides an overview of needs, concerns, and challenges as they may present themselves from time-to-time to the Manager, Social Services and recommends appropriate actions for further discussion and for the Manager’s approval.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**1. Educational Programming and Child Care**
- Identifies and prioritizes community needs for day care centre services and programming.
- Develops and delivers a comprehensive day care program and services; providing tutoring and academic counselling
- Ensures that the Language & Culture programming is secure and directed.
- Ensures that the Special Needs programming is secure and implemented where needed.
- Carries out regularly scheduled instruction as per supervisor’s teaching manual.
- Provides guidance to other instructors relative to the instructor teaching assignments.
- Provides a learning environment which makes effective use of available resources, work experiences and field trips.
- Selecting of approved textbooks, learning material and equipment
- In collaboration with staff specifying or approving learning approaches and necessary resources, etc.
- Assess child program periodically to ensure the children are receiving quality of care required under the How Does Learning Happen curriculum.
- Prepares Parent Handbook.

**2. Human Resource Management**
- Supervises and provides direction to staff, motivates and influences collaborative team work and seeks ways to elevate and strengthen overall performance of all staff.
- Recommends to the Manager, Social Services the employment, promotion, demotion, discipline and termination of staff.
- Engages and schedules temporary/replacement staff as required.
- Ensure all professional RECE memberships, certifications etc. are up to date for all staff and forwards documents to HR for placement in employee files.
- Approves and submits timesheets in accordance with set policy and procedures.
- Reviews and submits holiday requests for Mindowin Manido Day Care staff to Manager for approval, schedules as applicable and ensures backup resources.
- Conducts annual performance evaluations for all staff, reviews with Manager, Social Services and recommends training and development and other performance actions as needed.
- Reports issues and complaints related to professional standards and performance immediately to Manager, Social Services and to the College of Early Childhood Educators as appropriate and as required.
- Addresses staff issues with mindful leadership and seeks to resolve conflicts through meaningful and positive constructive feedback.
- Ensures all health and safety of all staff and clients by conducting regular workplace inspections, identifying risks and concerns and taking immediate corrective actions as needed and completing necessary reports and submitting to Manager, Social Services and to Worker’s Safety Insurance Board as required.

**3. Operation Management**
- Ensures the facility and the surrounding grounds of the facility are maintained in accordance to legislative, regulatory and licensing mandates and requirements.
- Ensures all indoor equipment, including indoor and outdoor play structures are maintained and in ready health and safety condition for staff and child use.
- Conducts regular fire safety drills with staff and children in accordance with regulations.
- Implementing measures to address fire code and health & safety.
- Recommends and arranges for all quotes and requisitions pricing for repairs and maintenance, for facility and equipment required.
- Responsible for maintenance employees and contracts

**4. Financial Management**
- Recommends and prepares all requisitions for purchases or services.
- Financial monitoring of specific expenditures as designated by the Manager, Social Services
- assists with financial reporting to funding agents.
- Collects fees from parents for childcare and provides receipts as needed.

**5. Administrative**:

- Completes all administrative reporting requirements according to policies and funding agent mandates including Briefing Notes and Discussion Papers.
- .Ensures child attendance is completed daily for monthly reporting purposes.
- Works with Human Resources to ensure correct reporting and utilization of supply staff are being implemented in accordance with the organization’s Administration Policies and in accordance with the minimum requirements of the CECE.
