Overview:

- Position Purpose:
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Continuous Improvement (CI) Coordinator will have a direct reporting relationship with the EHS Manager at the facility and will also report indirectly to a corporate CI leader responsible for the Montreal facility. The role will be responsible for supporting day-to-day EHS and CI tasks in support of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) goals and projects.”

**Key Activities**:
The CI role requires an understanding of statistical methods as well as enhanced analytical abilities in order to confidently propose appropriate recommendations. Some of the main duties will be to:

- Implementation and effectiveness of Daily Visual Management (DVM) in support of facility SQDC goals.
- Development and implementation of standard work instructions (SWIs)
- Identification and execution of Kaizen events
- CI support for facility capital projects
- 5S implementation and sustainment efforts
- CI training efforts

The EHS role requires an understanding of the EHS local legislation, standard and regulations. The role consists of supporting the EHS manager in the recurrent tasks such as:

- Conduct EHS-related compliance inspections and subsequent corrective actions
- Coordinate EHS document translation
- Support injury / incident management process
- Support EHS training content development and delivery
- Act as backup EHS contact when EHS Manager off-site
- Complete monthly EHS metric reporting and support additional corporate EHS requests, initiatives and projects
- Support with conducting SQDC and SWI audits and responsible for on-time completion of action items as a result.

Qualifications:
**Scope of Work**:

- This position will interact with all employees including management, EHS, Human Resources, Quality, corporate representatives, customers, vendors, and contractors. This role will have a high level of interaction with hourly employees throughout the daily schedule. The decisions made by the person filling this position are of a technical nature, and mid to high range of complexity. This position’s primary functions are conducted in accordance with established policy and principles.

**Education and/or Experience required (including certifications)**:

- Minimum of (2-5) years’ experience in an EHS and/or CI role.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Lean or LSS Green Belt certification a plus.
- Training content development and delivery experience preferred.
- Union experience preferred.
- Key Competencies (non-technical behavioral skills, i.e. presentation, negotiation, customer service skills), in priority order. Select from “key competencies for job descriptions” list:

- Ability to communicate.
- Ability to weigh and manage priorities.
- Analytical skills.
- Change management and conflict resolution. Methodical and rigorous work habits (Safety and Quality driven while focused on productivity).
- Delivers on time.
- Organizational skills and ability to multitask (work on several projects at once).
- Fluency in French and English (written and spoken). Translations English / French is a plus.
- Proficiency in commonly used and specialized software.

Other (i.e., physical requirements, travel, etc. that is not covered above):

- Physical requirements include outdoor work (in hot environment), climbing stairs and some heavy lifting.
Minimal travel will be required within the US and Canada.
