Our mission is to make stylish but affordable goods that are kind to the earth, and as a zero fabric waste enterprise, we use every last piece of fabric we bring in. We make our kid’s line out of left-overs from other projects and turn what’s left into Salvage Yarn, Craft Kits or stuffing for floor cushions

**The opportunity**
We are currently seeking our next incredible rock star to fill our Assistant Retail Manager role, supporting the overall operations of our bustling team while managing and overseeing our retail operations. Reporting to the General Manager, this role will maintain a warm, professional presence on the retail floor, drive revenue and meet sales targets, lead a cohesive, strong retail team, oversee merchandising while adding their own flair, and other tasks as needed. Every day looks a little bit different and you’re able to determine what priorities are most pressing.

**A day in the life**
- Maintain a warm but professional presence on the retail floor while showcasing Smoking Lily product knowledge to drive sales
- Build relationships with customers and promote brand loyalty with every transaction
- Assist with establishing and executing positive sales and profit performance, as directed by the General Manager
- Ensure sales and margin goals are consistently met and/or exceeded
- Ownership of merchandising the retail store and ensuring the store is always looking its best
- Oversee and lead the retail staff to foster a successful, cohesive work environment
- Process POS sales daily and execute management functions in the absence of the General Manager
- Responsible for cashing out at the end of each day and for month-end reconciliation
- Provide vacation coverage for General Manager as required

**What you bring**
- 2+ years of retail management experience in a high-volume environment
- Prior experience working with POS systems and inventory management
- Prior working experience in a local business or handcrafted industry will be considered an asset
- Proven track record of meeting and/or exceeding set targets and/or goals
- Confidence to oversee store operations alongside and in the absence of the General
- Manager
- Customer-service focus with the ability to maintain multiple client relationships in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable to connect with team members to improve performance and create a supportive, motivated culture
- Ability to manage relationships at all levels of the business
- Professionalism and confidence to handle unexpected and/or negative situations
- Motivation to provide an outstanding experience every time for customers, stakeholders and team members
- Knowledge of the Smoking Lily brand and interest in supporting creative, hand-made local business
- Confidence and common sense to take initiative and know what projects naturally fall into next in line
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (no typos here)
- Ability (and desire) to work in-store in downtown Victoria, B.C.
