Lambton College, a public community college in Ontario, has licensed its curriculum to Queen’s College to deliver programs to international students in Mississauga. Queen’s College is seeking an Employer Relations Advisor to support the college in the following areas:
**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Responsible for identifying and establishing new business contacts, professional associations, trends, challenges and opportunities associated with the development of co-op employment opportunities for a full range of programs, within the scope of the existing college policies on placements;
- Facilitate face to face meetings/presentations with small to medium sized business owners, senior /intermediate level management (i.e.: HR Directors, Plant Managers, Operations Directors, etc.) from a variety of economic sectors, representing all program offerings;
- Regular participation and coordination of employment and industry events, job fairs, conferences, trade shows and workshops - locally, occasional participation provincially and nationally to promote programs, build contacts and generate employment opportunities for students;
- Utilize research skills to assist the College as it relates to employment prospecting, gathering discipline specific labour market information and feedback from the business community.
- Visiting active co-op students to audit the safety and professionalism of their workplace, while taking the time to meet with company Administration to explore the possibility of establishing future placements.
- Assist in the revision of college co-op hiring policies based on market research, feedback from businesses, and reviews of co-op student experiences.
- Assist employers with their recruitment needs by marketing a full range of programs offered by Lambton College;
- Complete monthly reports and other documentation as required; set and achieve annual targets in relation to employment opportunities secured;
- Coordinate and conduct marketing strategies and outreach activities to employers, community agencies, and other organizations;

**Qualifications**:

- Three-year post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field of study i.e., Business Administration, Human Resources, Marketing, or Social Science, is required;
- Minimum of three years’ experience in sales, marketing, job development, public relations or employment assistance; preferably in a post-secondary or employer services setting.
- Knowledge of college program offerings, Canadian Labour Market, employment trends, and prospect development techniques;
- Have demonstrated experience in sales, negotiation, building partnerships, innovation, coaching and facilitating change;
- Proven track record of meeting goals in a demanding target-based sales environment;
- Strong understanding of labour laws and workplace safety standards;
- Established relationships with employers, community organizations and industry specific associations an asset;
- Experience coordinating events from inception to completion,
- Must be a results-oriented individual with the ability to motivate and inspire self and others;
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; with the ability to establish rapport with participants, employers, staff and students;
- Ability to work and make decisions independently
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- High degree of professionalism and diplomacy
- Valid Ontario G driver’s license and access to a reliable motor vehicle
