Algoma Power Inc. (API) is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, service-oriented individual with a keen attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a dynamic team.

The Operations Assistant is responsible for a wide variety of administrative tasks including calendar management, generating and monitoring correspondence, scheduling and organizing meetings, taking and distributing minutes, document management as well as creation and coordination of internal and external communications.

Key duties include:

- Providing administrative support to the Operations department in all aspects of day to day operations
- Handling invoicing, expense coding and purchase requisitions to ensure appropriate approvals are received and entered into the system accurately for timely payment
- Updating, tracking and following through on action items
- Document management and retention
- First point of contact to handle both internal and external inquiries in an efficient, effective and professional manner
- Ensure the efficient operation of the department by anticipating needs, implementing suggestions, initiating improvements to workflow, and handling day-to-day work as required
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all internal departments, employees, customers, contractors, various legislative bodies, municipal agencies and governments and other organizations
- Other related administrative tasks as required
- Post-Secondary education in Business Administration or related discipline from an accredited educational institution
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in an operations related Administrative Assistant role with increasing levels of responsibility
- Experience in providing exceptional customer service
- Familiarity with general office procedures and basic accounting principles
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and follow through on daily tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and ability to complete work with high degree of accuracy
- Proven team player, strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills with experience in managing escalated customer concerns
- Ontario “G” driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
