Environmental Services Consultant Temp. Part Time

The Opportunity

AgeCare is seeking an experienced Environmental Services Consultant to join our Ontario team The Consultant, Environmental Services, is responsible for working with home-level Environmental Supervisors co-coordinating and supporting environmental services in a group of Long-Term Care Homes. This includes maintenance services (grounds, equipment, and machinery), laundry and housekeeping services. Within the scope of this position, the Consultant, Environmental Services takes on a key role to continually providing an environment promoting a culture of client safety and freedom from harm and injury.

What You Will Do:

- Ability to analyze department financial statements and guide implementation of practices that address financial variances including variances in department staffing budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with the Fixing Long Term Care Act (2022) and Regulations as well as all other applicable legislation in Long Term Care Home Environmental departments including: Maintenance, Housekeeping and Laundry.
- In consultation with the Homes’ Administrators and Environmental Services Managers, establishes systems and monitors compliance to preventative maintenance programs.
- Reviews and supports compliance with procedures as outlined in corporate policy manuals and all applicable legislation.
- Ensures that systems are in place for the requisition of materials and equipment and the maintenance of supplies and inventory levels for environmental services for all assigned homes.
- Reviews fire drills and supports the coordination of fire prevention and disaster planning programs.
- Supports the implementation and maintenance of Occupational Health and Safety policy and procedures in all environmental service departments of assigned homes.

What You Bring:

- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity at a Long -Term Care Home.
- A sound knowledge of the Fixing Long Term Care Act (2022) and Regulations.
- Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS and any other pertinent legislation that influences the operation of a Long-Term Care Home.
- Broad knowledge of maintenance and experience in building trades.
- Post-secondary education at the college or university level in an accredited course in building services supervision.
- A proven ability to coach and mentor home-level environmental leaders.
