**Qualifications**:

- Pharmacy Technician Diploma from a recognized college required
- Current Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) Part A requirements for Pharmacy Technician regulations required
- Post high school education in Mental Health field, an asset

**Principal Duties**:

- All duties in Pharmacy Care Outpatient Pharmacy; includes ACT and Oncology specialized areas
- assists in dispensing medications for all hospital patients across all Bluewater Health sites
- Preparing sterile products such as IV admixtures, TPNs and chemotherapy drugs
- Meditech® computerized medication order entry of physician orders
- Refills medications in automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis®)
- Manufactures and/or packages solutions, tablets or capsules required by nursing units
- Daily narcotic dispensing and narcotic inventory control
- Prepares extemporaneous mixtures, checks the ward stock supply on selected nursing units and replenishes the stock
- Returns unused medication to stock, including billing and crediting medications
- Delivers medication to Nursing Units
- Interviews patients for best possible medication histories (BPMH) for medication reconciliation
- Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
- Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
- Acts as a coach, mentor, resource and positive role model for new staff and students
- helps with inventory control by receiving and barcoding medications
- Other related duties as assigned
