Rodd Charlottetown Hotel is looking for an aspiring maintenance person to join their team as a Maintenance Helper.

**Job Summary**:The Maintenance Helper is responsible primarily for basic maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting spaces, Pool and common areas as well as litter pickup and grounds maintenance. Preventive maintenance in guest rooms and common areas is included in this scope.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to plan and prioritize the day and to ensure preventative maintenance is completed in a timely manner.
- Respond to guest requests in a friendly and timely manner.
- Perform basic plumbing, HVAC, painting tasks as required for normal maintenance of the hotel.
- Take care of pool to ensure it is clean, safe, well maintained and to Health Department specifications.
- Make rounds of the property to ensure everything is in working order, maintain safe walkway’s entrances etc., check exterior lighting and replace as necessary.
- General cleaning duties during rounds of property such as picking up garbage, cigarette butts etc. Taking out garbage as required.
- Complete maintenance requests and update virtual log book to notify the next shift and to keep front desk informed.
- Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas
- Report any unsafe conditions to the Maintenance Supervisor
- Help with tour group baggage
- All other duites as required.

**Job Specifications**
- Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, painting and carpentry
- a willingness to learn
- Knowledge of basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Skill in operating a variety of hand and power tools
- Ability to read, understand and follow written instructions
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner
- Ability to effectively function as a team player
- Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects

**Salary**: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
