**About The Position**

The purpose of the Handyman/woman is to do a wide variety of tasks, installing doors and shelves, and repairing furniture. Some of the focus will be visiting job sites to make repairs when scheduled, fixing any minor mechanical and electrical problems.

He/she will be working in offices, building, condominiums, school boards, universities, hospitals, recreational facilities, shopping malls and other establishments as needed.

Must be comfortable with physically demanding work that includes bending, stooping, kneeling and crouching, have good communication skills and the ability to work under limited supervision

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Must be able to find cost effective and accurate solutions
- Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris and other refuse
- Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs
- Empty trash cans and other waste containers
- Experience on how to replace glass is an asset but not necessary
- Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair
- May move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- 2 - 3 years’ experience in commercial maintenance and commercial janitorial
- basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing work
- criminal record check or previous cleaning and maintenance experience
- A journeyman/woman certificate in one or more of the trades or a building operator certificate is an asset
- Basic building trade or building maintenance training
- Basic construction skills
- Ability to follow directions, understand written and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of safety codes, regulations and equipment
- Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety, and Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and an ability to understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- Class 5 Drivers License (with clean driving record)
- Must possess great interpersonal skills
- Great Organization and communication skills
- Must be able to lift up-to 75lbs

**Salary**: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
