**Position**:Child & Youth Grief Counsellor
- 4pm, Monday to Friday
**Position Status**:Permanent employee or contract.
**Salary**: Negotiable
**Qualifications**:A Registered Social Worker, A Registered Clinical Counsellor, Mental Health Nurse or an Expressive Art Therapist. Master’s Degree an asset.
**Reporting**:The Child & Youth Grief Counsellor will report to the CRHS Lead Clinical Counsellor, who will also provide clinical supervision.
**Overview**:
- Play-based, child and youth-focused counselling with clients ages 4 - 18 years old who are experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one by illness or sudden death, including suicide, overdose, homicide and accidents.
- Work alongside parents and families individually and in a group setting to provide counselling, support, education and strategies to support their children in addition to the whole family unit.
- Practice in compliance with all ethical guidelines and standards as per BCACC standards.
- Teamwork, collaboration, cooperation, and effective communication with all other counsellors at CRHS, as well as administrative and leadership staff.
**Education**:
- A Registered Social Worker, A Registered Clinical Counsellor, Mental Health Nurse or an Expressive Arts Therapist. Master’s Degree and asset.
- Minimum three years experience in Grief Counselling with children, youth and families
**Skills**:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of counselling interventions and clinical practice with children, youth and families
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Excellent time management and organizational skills as pertain to scheduling and documentation
- Cultural competence and work with diverse populations is an asset
**Requirements**:
- Availability to work daytime 8 am - 4 pm
- Clear vulnerable sector police check
- Familiarity with virtual counselling techniques
- Current liability insurance
- Current registration with a professional association/accrediting body
