The Peninsula and Norgarden are two beautiful retirement communities in the lovely seaside town of Sidney, BC. We consider working with our residents a privilege and we are passionate about it. We live our values; “we embrace our residents as part of our family, welcome our community partners as friends, and provide exceptional service to all in the spirit of friendship, empathy and compassion.” We are currently hiring a full time Breakfast Cook / Baker (5:30am to 1pm). This is a Sunday to Thursday position. This is a great position for a cook who is organized, can work well alone, and likes to scratch cook - we don't do heat and serve. Benefits of working with us: A reasonable work week; same days of the week, reasonable hours, shifts are from 5:30am to 1pm. You get regular days off and two in a row. The menu is set in advance so the routine is the same, and you don’t get hit with a crush in the kitchen all at once. You get training in a very civilized kitchen. You get to increase your cooking skillset because we have an amazing Executive Chef who likes to teach. All our food is made from scratch and is excellent, and you can bring recipes you want to try out. Our menu is constantly changing and we welcome creative input. The pay is very competitive and we offer matching benefits (massage, acupuncture, glasses dental, that kind of thing) and matching RRSP contributions that adds up to $1300 additional a year ($650 is our contribution). And we are in Sidney, so parking is always free. **What we expect**: You have a strong work ethic You have a positive attitude. You have at least 2 years’ experience You can work independently, and yet you are a team player.
