Job Description

Overview:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Compliance, the SOX Compliance Intern will assist in assessing internal control policies, programs, and procedures to support effective risk management and governance at Brookfield Residential Properties ULC. Through this work, the intern will contribute to the company’s ability to achieve its financial and operational goals.

*This position starts in September, during the Fall 2025 semester. Full-time availability is preferred*

Key Deliverables:

- Assist in the execution of the annual SOX Compliance Program by gathering documentation, organizing files, and supporting risk assessment activities
- Support the maintenance and updating of SOX compliance narratives by collaborating with team members and collecting relevant information from business groups
- Participate in control walkthroughs to observe control activities and document key process steps under analyst supervision
- Assist in the tracking and follow-up of remediation plans related to identified control deficiencies
- Help compile information related to automated controls and support the documentation of system-generated evidence used in control testing
- Learn the basics of IT General Controls (ITGCs) and assist in collecting supporting documentation for control testing
- Support the testing process by organizing testing samples, documenting results, and assisting with initial assessments under guidance
- Track the status of management action plans and maintain internal logs for follow-up activities

- Detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking and project support abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across teams
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Willing to learn about IIA Standards, risk methodologies, and data analysis
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with interest in building advanced skills
- Quick to learn and thrive in a fast-paced environment
