Technical Writer

As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for planning, writing, and updating core technical user and developer documentation. In addition, you will build focused guides for developers on how to accomplish specific use cases with Orckestra’s commerce platform for both internal and external technical audiences.
We’re looking for a creative and tech-savvy writer who can represent complex software functionality with clear and concise documentation. You will work closely with our development teams to get all the information you need. It will also definitely be helpful if you have a technical background to the extent that you are comfortable digging into our APIs and some code to understand our platform and explain it to a technical audience.

**Main responsibilities**:

- Interview product managers and developers internally to better understand new features and changes to the platform;
- Prepare technical documentation for audiences made up of developers and technical users working with our commerce platform;
- Own the documentation of the platform’s API and overall development framework;
- Manage the platform release notes and update the appropriate channels (online community, portal and internal communications);
- Establish standard guidelines to maintain consistency throughout all developers and API documentation;
- Participate directly with the development team taking part in key discussions and architecture meetings to better plan documentation needs;
- Learn more about our software development practices and tools we work with so you can communicate effectively with our audiences.

**Desired profile**:

- Knowledge/experience with software development and bonus if you have experience with.Net and Azure;
- Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop;
- Knowledge of HTML5, CSS and XML;
- Superior communication skills, ability to empathize with our audience and articulate key messages clearly;
- Self-motivated and creative with the natural drive to learn and pick up new challenges;
- Bilingualism (French and English) would be an asset.

**Qualifications**:

- College or bachelor’s degree in a technical or technical communications discipline;
- 3+ years of experience as a Technical Writer ideally with experience in API and developer documentation;
- Experience with Madcap Flare or similar professional authoring tools.
